Clear applications for regularisation of Section 22A lands under G.O. 59 within a month: Telangana Govt to Collectors

The Telangana government has ordered district collectors to expedite the regularisation of small government land plots under G.O. 59. This move aims to resolve long-standing property disputes and simplify the registration process for citizens.
Why it matters
Resolving land title issues is critical for property rights and urban development in Telangana.
The Telangana Government has directed district Collectors to dispose of pending applications for regularisation of government land measuring 500 square yards or less under G.O. 59 within a month, Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said on Friday (October 9, 2026) .
The decision follows Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s assurance in the Legislative Assembly on September 16 that the government would address problems relating to properties included in the prohibited properties list under Section 22-A of the Registration Act.
The government issued a memorandum in accordance with G.Os. 14, 22, 29 and 41, laying down the procedure for processing the pending applications.
Reviewing the matter with senior officials at the Secretariat on Friday, the Minister said applications must be examined comprehensively, taking into account original land records, the eligibility of beneficiaries and the extent of land proposed for regularisation.
