Clayface movie review: Gross DC Comics thriller is no play but lots of d’oh

This review critiques the new DC Comics film 'Clayface,' starring Tom Rhys Harries, comparing its approach to character origin stories unfavorably against Christopher Nolan's 'The Dark Knight.' The reviewer argues that the film's explicit focus on gory details undermines the mystery and ambiguity that made previous DC villains iconic.

Starring Tom Rhys Harries, Naomi Ackie and Max Minghella
About a third of the way through Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight , Heath Ledger offer a line reading so simultaneously appalling and appealing that his legacy as an actor instantly became inseparable from that of the Joker, a comic-book villain played so many times by so many performers at this point that the Clown Prince of Crime has become a sick meta-gag all its own.
