An eighth class student, Kechhala Shiva Parvathi, 13, was electrocuted at the Tribal Welfare Ashram School for Girls at Sivakasipuram village in Velerupadu mandal of Eluru district on Friday (August 7, 2026).
A native of Chittamreddypalem village, Shiva Parvathi died in the early hours while drying clothes. Students said she put the wet clothes on an iron window grille through which power was passing after a power cable fell on it.
Shiva Parvathi suffered critical burns. She was taken to a hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
K.R. Puram Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) Project Officer Ramulu Naik, Eluru district Tribal Welfare Department Deputy Director Jagannadha Rao and other officers visited the school.
