A six-year-old girl died, and two other children were injured when a tree fell on a school bus in Barimaru village in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday.

The police identified the deceased as Chiranvi, a Class I student of Sri Rama Vidyakendra School, Kalladka.

According to the police, the incident occurred at about 5 p.m. while the school bus was taking students home. There were four students in the bus at the time of the incident. The bus had stopped near a building because of heavy rain when a large portion of a roadside tree fell on it. The left side of the bus bore the brunt of the impact.
