CJP leaders released after 24 hours; Joshi calls protest ‘rebellion’

Leaders of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) were released on bail after being detained for 24 hours following a protest against the Chief Election Commissioner. The incident has drawn criticism from Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, who labeled the protest a 'rebellion'.
Why it matters
The detention and subsequent political rhetoric reflect ongoing tensions regarding election oversight and political dissent in India.
Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were released by a Delhi court on October 11 after nearly 24 hours in detention. The three were detained at Delhi airport ahead of the planned Jantar Mantar protest demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. Their release came with a ₹50,000 surety bond and a condition to maintain peace and good behaviour for one year. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi criticised the protest.
