The three CJP leaders were detained from their aircraft seats on Saturday morning (October 10, 2026) ahead of the group’s scheduled protest at Jantar Mantar seeking the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

The three have been detained under Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which deal with security for keeping the peace and arrest to prevent the commission of cognisable offences, respectively.
