A day ahead of the Opposition’s planned march to the Supreme Court on Monday (October 12, 2026), Chief Justice of India (CJI) Justice Surya Kant has rejected the INDIA bloc leaders’ request for a meeting.
CJI Surya Kant confirmed to The Hindu that he has declined the request of the Opposition bloc to meet him on Monday (October 12, 2026). “Yes, I have declined with reasons,” the CJI said.
Earlier, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday (October 11, 2026) said he and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi would meet the CJI on October 12 to raise concerns over alleged suppression of democratic rights, police action against protesters and irregularities in the Election Commission.
