Monsoon preparedness work and civic infrastructure development project implementation have been affected because of a ban on limited tenders in the city, said Chennai Mayor R. Priya.
Speaking at the Chennai Corporation council meeting on Wednesday (July 29, 2026), Ms. Priya said councillors have demanded that the civic body expedite work ahead of the onset of the Northeast monsoon.
Deputy Mayor M. Magesh Kumaar also said the ban on limited tenders has affected several development works of the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC).
