The City of Perth has sacked its chief executive officer Michelle Reynolds, who had been suspended since May, following an investigation.

The decision comes after the local government inspector announced a probe into the problematic council.

Ms Reynolds called the investigation that led to her dismissal a "witch hunt" and said she would appeal.
