CITU urges workers to join ‘Chalo Parliament’ protests in Delhi

The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) is calling for workers to participate in a 'Chalo Parliament' protest in Delhi this December to demand higher wages and job security. Union leaders criticized the government's labor codes and privatization policies, claiming they negatively impact working conditions.
Why it matters
The protest highlights growing labor unrest and opposition to current economic and industrial policies in India.
Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) Andhra Pradesh general secretary A.V. Nageswara Rao called upon workers to intensify their struggles to protect labour rights and oppose policies that adversely affect them. Speaking at a meeting in Visakhapatnam to mark the 81st anniversary of the World Federation of Trade Unions, Mr. Rao said workers’ struggles were expanding worldwide.
CITU Visakhapatnam district general secretary R.K.S.V. Kumar alleged that the Centre had introduced four labour codes favouring corporates and said they could affect job security and working conditions. He also alleged that the State government was pursuing privatisation policies.
