Activists, children, and citizens from across Bengaluru participated in creating a human chain in Lalbagh on Sunday (August 9, 2026), organised by the Lalbagh Walkers Association, to oppose the State government's proposed Tunnel Road project, which they alleged will affect the botanical garden.
“We will continue to protest and create awareness among the public until the message reaches the High Court of Karnataka about saving Lalbagh from being destroyed due to the proposed tunnel road project,” said Umesh Kumar, President of Lalbagh Walkers Association and Cubbon Park Walkers Association.
Mr. Umesh added, “There is a High Court hearing on August 20 th regarding the tunnel road project. Multiple parties have filed petitions against the proposed project.”
