A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable suffered a minor injury to his right elbow on Monday after a protester allegedly attacked him with a knife during a National Students’ Union of India protest near Jantar Mantar, the police said. The protesters were demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over SIR “irregularities”.
The constable, identified as Bikram Kumar, was taking a protester away from a barricade when the man allegedly attacked him with a knife, a CISF officer said. The police took Mr. Kumar to RML Hospital for treatment, and he was later discharged.
