Yet after receiving a terminal cancer diagnosis, the achievement that mattered most was simply being present for her family. The mother of actors Ben and Casey Affleck died peacefully in her sleep on June 2 following a battle with pancreatic cancer, according to an obituary published by her family. She was 83. Chris was diagnosed in December 2025 and told she had approximately six months to live. Her greatest wish was to attend her grandson Atticus Affleck’s high school graduation. She reached that milestone on May 31, joining her family at the ceremony only two days before her death.
