Catherine Satande, the wife of David Matanda (35), testified that she failed to report her husband's abduction immediately because the suspects had successfully masqueraded as law enforcement.
The revelation came during the ongoing trial of Simbarashe Emmanuel Martin Rondozai (38), who is facing charges of kidnapping and assault.
The prosecution alleged that Rondozai orchestrated the May 2025 abduction to silence Matanda - who had worked under him for five years - and prevent him from exposing fraudulent activities at a local security company.
Satande told the court that she and her brother-in-law, Rufaro, witnessed the assault at their Chitungwiza residence.
