Chitlapakkam residents flag high property tax, seek review

Residents’ welfare associations in Tambaram City Municipal Corporation urged the Tamil Nadu government to review property tax in Chitlapakkam, citing “disproportionately high assessments”.
They claimed a 1,500 sq. ft. property on GST Road attracts ₹26,812 annually, whereas the same in Boat Club Road under the GCC attracts ₹16,250, despite its higher guideline value.
The United Federation of Residents Welfare Associations and the Tambaram Corporation Zone III Residents Welfare Association made the representation to Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on September 28, following a unanimous resolution adopted at the federation’s general body meeting on September 26.
