Chinese Velociraptor cousin had a taste for birds
Paleontologists have identified a new dinosaur species, Jian changmaensis, which lived in China 120 million years ago. The small, feathered predator is believed to have hunted birds using gliding techniques similar to a flying squirrel.
Why it matters
This discovery provides new insights into the evolutionary adaptations of small theropod dinosaurs and their ecological roles in the Cretaceous period.
