Uganda's trailblazing para-swimmer Husnah Kukundakwe says Team Uganda is determined to compete for honours when the 2026 Commonwealth Games get underway in Glasgow from July 23 to August 2.
Kukundakwe, who was speaking on behalf of the athletes during the team's official send-off at the British High Commissioner's residence in Kampala, expressed confidence that the Ugandan contingent is ready to make the country proud on the Commonwealth stage.
"On behalf of all the athletes, we are incredibly excited. Many of us have worked for years for this moment. We are not just going to participate; we are going to compete and make our country proud," Kukundakwe told reporters.
She also highlighted the unique nature of the Commonwealth Games, where para-sports and able-bodied sports are staged together, describing the event as a symbol of inclusion and equal opportunity.
