The fire mishap occurred at Sridevi Joshi’s house in Sahyadri Nagar, where she had rented the first floor to Roopa Nashipudi, who lived there with her two children. On Saturday, Roopa had left home for the temple on account of ‘amavasye’ (New Moon Day) after leaving her two children at home and locking the door from the outside.
