Chief Minister’s Trophy sports meet commences
Southern districts in Tamil Nadu have launched the Chief Minister’s Trophy sports meet, featuring 45 events across various categories. Over 44,000 participants have registered to compete for cash prizes and potential educational or employment benefits.

Collectors in southern districts inaugurated the sports meet for the Chief Minister’s Trophy in Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi and Kanniyakumari on Wednesday.
Tirunelveli District Collector Anand Mohan inaugurated the sports meet at Anna Stadium in Palayamkottai in the presence of Radhapuram MLA S.K. Christopher.
Mr. Anand Mohan said the sports meet in 45 events would be organised in five categories – school students, college students, general public, differently-abled persons and the government employees.
While athletics, volleyball, basketball, kabaddi, hockey and handball matches were organised at Anna Stadium, chess and ‘silambam’ was conducted at Sarah Tucker College, Palayamkottai on Wednesday. Similarly, badminton at Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, carrom at MNA Abdul Rahman Higher Secondary School, cricket at St. John’s College and kho-kho at St. Thomas Matriculation Higher Secondary School were conducted.
In all, 44,299 persons have registered their names for participating in these events.
