Chhota Rajan sentenced by CBI court in Chennai to seven years of rigorous imprisonment

A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Chennai convicted and sentenced notorious underworld don Chhota Rajan alias Vijaya Kadam to seven years rigorous imprisonment, and imposed a fine of ₹55,000, after convicting him in a passport fraud case.
The court found Rajan, also known as Vijaya Kadam, Rajendra and Nana, guilty of cheating, forgery, personation, and knowingly submitting forged documents to obtain an Indian passport. Rajan is currently lodged in Tihar Jail, New Delhi, where he is serving a life sentence in another case.
The case was registered on March 19, 2002 following allegations that Rajan had fraudulently obtained a passport from the Regional Passport Office in Chennai using forged documents, according to the CBI.
