Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Wednesday said Cheruvumadharam village in Nelakondapalli mandal of Khammam district would be developed as a model solar village as part of the State government’s initiative to promote green energy.

The Minister, along with Khammam Collector Divakara T.S., inaugurated 2-kW rooftop solar systems in the village as part of the State government’s pilot initiative to transform Telangana into a model solar State.

Of the 966 households in the village availing themselves of free power up to 200 units a month under the Gruha Jyothi scheme, 713 households have been initially selected for the model solar village programme, official sources said.
