CHENNAI: A special CBI court in Chennai on Thursday sentenced gangster Chhota Rajan to seven years' imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 55,000 on him for fraudulently obtaining an Indian passport using forged documents and a false identity.The court convicted Rajan under charges of cheating, forgery, cheating by personation and knowingly submitting forged documents to obtain a passport. Chhota Rajan, a former close aide of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim who later became his rival, is currently lodged in the Tihar Jail in New Delhi, where he is serving a life sentence in another case.The fake passport case was registered by the CBI on March 19, 2002, alleging that Rajan had obtained a passport from the regional passport office in Chennai by posing as "Vijaya Kadam" and submitting forged documents.The investigation found that Rajan had used…
