Chennai, to me, means much more than just a place of dwelling. The bond is beyond explanation. I picture Chennai as a forerunner in many aspects, in education, research, technology, knowledge, mind sports and, not to miss, healthcare par excellence, always with a touch of humanity. Chennai has simple people with big dreams.

Every child back then aspired to study at premier institutions such as IIT-Madras and Madras Medical College. As a nutrition student, I was privileged to learn about the first-ever noon meal scheme, and read the legendary nutrition textbooks of M.S. Swaminathan, and to be part of the “Malnutrition Free Basket” initiative with the man behind the Green Revolution.
