This article previews an upcoming Premier League match between Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion at Stamford Bridge. It discusses Chelsea's recent struggles against Brighton and provides logistical details for viewers.
Why it matters
Sports journalism provides essential engagement for fan bases and tracks the competitive landscape of professional football leagues.
We've had a running joke since BlueCo bought Chelsea in 2022 that they were trying to turn us into a more expensive version of Brighton, but the sad reality is that the Seagulls have, more or less, ended up owning us instead of the other way around. And that's despite the multitude of players (and coaches) who have moved up to the big city from the coast.
Brighton have won six of the last ten matchups across all competitions, including the last four on the bounce by an aggregate score of 10-2. Ten! And they've finished ahead of us in two of the four BlueCo seasons, including last year.
So I suppose it's fitting that Xabi Alonso gets a chance early on against our bogey team. Time to set a new tone.
