Why it matters
Pre-season matches are critical for new managers to test squad depth and tactical adjustments before the start of the competitive league season.
Chelsea face AC Milan in their fourth preseason friendly at the GBK Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia, today. The Blues, under newly appointed manager Xabi Alonso, have secured just one win so far and are coming off two consecutive defeats.
Their most recent match ended in a 1-0 loss to Juventus after Chelsea had also suffered a narrow defeat to Tottenham Hotspur .
With just weeks remaining before their first league match of the new season against Fulham , Alonso will be desperate for a win to give his side a much needed positive boost.
Meanwhile, Ruben Amorim will also be looking for his first win as AC Milan manager. The former Manchester United boss replaced Massimiliano Allegri after the Rossoneri finished a disappointing fifth in Serie A last season.
