PETALING JAYA: A senior aide to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has hit out at deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's press secretary in the dispute over funding for the rural and regional development ministry.

Anwar's senior press secretary Tunku Nashrul Abaidah told Fadzmel Fadzil to check his facts again, after the latter questioned the Treasury's statement on the ministry's expenditure.

"I am confident that the finance ministry did not issue its statement on the matter in a reckless manner.
