Chamber seeks daily train between Puducherry and Velankanni

The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Nagapattinam has submitted a memorandum to railway officials requesting new and extended train services. The proposals include a daily train between Puducherry and Velankanni and improved connectivity to other major cities in Tamil Nadu.
Why it matters
Infrastructure improvements in the rail sector are critical for regional economic development and religious tourism in the Nagapattinam district.
The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nagapattinam, has urged the railway administration to introduce a daily train service between Puducherry and Velankanni via Karaikal. It has sought extension of the Villupuram-Mayiladuthurai passenger up to Velankanni via Karaikal. A few representatives of the chamber met Balak Ram Negi, Divisional Railway Manager, Tiruchi, at Nagapattinam railway station on Friday and submitted to him a memorandum containing the above mentioned demand and a few others.
The report objectively details the demands of a local trade body without editorializing.
