Chamarajanagar DC conducts surprise inspection of hotels, restaurants

Deputy Commissioner of Chamarajanagar Shreeroopa conducted surprise inspections of hotels and restaurants in the town on Monday and ordered the temporary closure of establishments found using expired food items.

Ms. Shreeroopa, accompanied by Assistant Commissioner and Food Safety Officer Dinesh Kumar Meena, inspected groceries, vegetables and other ingredients stocked at various hotels and restaurants.

During the inspection, the team of officials found artificial colours being added to food, unhygienic kitchens, expired food items and poor-quality grocery products. Stale meat and mushrooms were found stored in the refrigerator at one hotel, while another was found using expired food items. Both hotels in Chamarajanagar town were ordered to be temporarily closed, according to a statement.
