Chairperson of Tamil Nadu State Commission for Women inspects textile units in Tiruppur
The Chairperson of the Tamil Nadu State Commission for Women, A.S. Kumari, inspected textile units in Tiruppur to assess the working conditions and safety of female employees. The commission plans to submit a report to the state government with recommendations to improve welfare and ensure compliance with the PoSH Act.

Chairperson of the Tamil Nadu State Commission for Women A.S. Kumari on Thursday concluded her two-day visit to Tiruppur for comprehensive interaction with women workforce in textile units to determine their working conditions.
Ms. Kumari interacted with about 125 women workers in two spinning mills and five garment manufacturing units with over 3,000 women workforce.
The Women’s Commission Chairperson verified statutory and employment-related records, and also had elaborate discussions with management representatives.
Issues affecting their rights, dignity, safety, and welfare were analysed. The inquiries indicated that a segment of the women workforce was not aware of the imperative need for the factories to constitute Internal Complaints Committee, under the PoSH Act, known as Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.
