The Centre has urged powerloom units in Nagari to register on the revamped Textile Statistical Returns System (TSRS) portal by September 30 and file prescribed returns on time, stressing that reliable data is crucial for shaping government policy and allocating benefits.
Commissioner for Textiles, Government of India, Vrunda Manohar Desai, made the appeal on Tuesday at a workshop attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Textiles and the Department of Handlooms and Textiles from Guntur, and representatives of powerloom associations and weavers of Nagari town in Chittoor district.
The Central official said that as per records, Nagari in Chittoor district had around 3,438 powerloom units operating nearly 13,000 looms, besides 34 sizing and 50 dyeing units, famous for cotton churidar and shirting fabric.
