Prime Minister Narendra Modi has confirmed that the Central government is coordinating with Assam state authorities to provide relief to flood-affected regions. Over 445,000 people have been impacted by the floods, with rescue operations involving the NDRF and SDRF currently underway.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (July 28, 2026) said the Central Government is working closely with the Assam government in providing relief to the flood-affected people of the State.
PM Modi made this statement after meeting with Union Ministers and BJP MPs from Assam in New Delhi at the Parliament House complex. So far this year, 68 people have lost their lives due to the deluge.
"Met MPs from Assam and discussed the prevailing flood situation in various parts of the State. The Centre is working closely with the Assam government in assisting those affected. I pray for everyone's safety and well-being," the Prime Minister said in a post on X.
