Centre sanctions third, fourth railway lines between Renigunta and Arakkonam
The Indian Union Government has approved the construction of third and fourth railway lines between Renigunta and Arakkonam. This 77 km project is expected to improve traffic flow on a critical route connecting Chennai to the rest of the country.

Infrastructure development on this route is vital for regional connectivity and for managing the high volume of pilgrims traveling to Tirupati.
The Union Government has accorded sanction to the third and fourth railway lines between the Renigunta Junction and Arakkonam Junction stations for a distance of 77 km on the busy Chennai route.
The section is considered the most crucial line in southern India, as it connects Chennai with most of the sections towards west, north and south.
Member of Parliament (Tirupati) M. Gurumoorthy thanked Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw for recognising the importance of this section in regulating traffic across various routes.
