Central REGSEC restricts Akwasidae celebrations in Denkyira to palace premises
The Central Regional Security Council (REGSEC) in Ghana has restricted Akwasidae celebrations in the Denkyira Traditional Area to palace premises due to security concerns. Additionally, all chieftaincy installation ceremonies have been suspended until further notice to prevent escalation of local disputes.

The Central Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has directed that all Akwasidae celebrations in the Denkyira Traditional Area be held strictly within palace premises, citing concerns over the prevailing security situation.
The Council has also suspended all chieftaincy installation ceremonies in the area until further notice.
The directive was contained in a letter dated August 28, 2026, signed by the Central Regional Minister and Chairman of REGSEC, Hon. Eduamoah Ekow Panyin Okyere, and addressed to the Denkyirahene, Odeefo Boa Amponsem IV.
Under the directive, all Akwasidae rituals, gatherings and related activities are to be conducted exclusively within the palaces in Dunkwa-On-Offin.
