Central committee ideates road map to strengthen Farmer Producer Organisations

Acknowledging the imperative need to give a thrust to Farmer Producer Organisations (FPO), a central committee constituted to address the issue held deliberations in Coimbatore on Thursday, August 27, 2026, to identify key constraints and evolve strategies for a practical road map.
The seven-member committee, chaired by Chinmay P. Gotmare, Joint Secretary (Marketing), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, and co-chaired by R. Selvarajan, Director, ICAR–National Research Centre for Banana (NRCB), Tiruchi, was constituted by the Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare in January 2026, to examine issues affecting FPOs of Tamil Nadu and recommend remedial measures.
