An agriculture team headed by the Director of the Directorate of Pulses Development, Bhopal, Mahesh Kumar, conducted an extensive field inspection across Yadgir district recently.

The high-level visit evaluated field implementations under the Union government’s Mission for Atma Nirbharta in Pulses (MAP) scheme.

​The team inspected mechanised red gram sowing plots in the Arakera (K) village in Yadgir taluk, as well as Doranahalli and Halisagar in Shahapur taluk. Pulse minikit demonstrations were reviewed at Panchasheela Nagar and Tatalgera in Gurmitkal taluk.

​Officials evaluated the configuration of several multi-crops, including red gram, sorghum, cotton, paddy, and sunflower, at Chepetla, Kamalnagar, M.T. Palli and Kandkur villages in Gurmitkal taluk.​

Field demonstrations highlighted Integrated Pest Management — including biological pheromone traps and using sorghum as natural bird perches for pest control — alongside mechanical nipping to encourage branching and increase yields.
