CCB books fake BPO company for suspected online fraud

Bengaluru police have raided a fake BPO company that was allegedly training young people to conduct online financial fraud. The operation involved using stolen identities and fraudulent SIM cards to threaten victims and extort money.

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) has registered a case against a suspected fake BPO company allegedly being used to train and deploy youngsters for online fraud, at HRBR Layout in northeast Bengaluru.
The case was registered by the CCB Organised Crime Wing (OCW), West Division, based on a complaint by inspector Hajaresh Killedar.
Acting on a tip-off on September 23, the police verified a company operating from the third and fourth floors of a building on Hennur Main Road, HRBR Layout 3rd Block, Keshava Nagar, Kacharakanahalli.
According to the complaint, the operators had allegedly lured 60 to 70 young men and women by promising them online jobs. They were allegedly given training to carry out online fraud and were made part of the criminal conspiracy.
