CBI raid at Punjab CM camp office a BJP campaign tactic, says Mann; BJP says don’t give political colour to HC order

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has accused the BJP of using the CBI to launch a politically motivated election campaign following a court-ordered corruption probe into his office. The BJP has denied these claims, asserting that the investigation is a legal matter and that the AAP government should focus on answering corruption allegations rather than shifting blame.
Why it matters
This highlights the ongoing tension between federal investigative agencies and state governments in India, raising concerns about the politicization of law enforcement during election cycles.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday (October 8, 2026) accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of launching its election campaign in Punjab through investigative agencies , even as he targeted the BJP over the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raid at his camp office two days ago.
Mr. Mann’s remark came after the Punjab and Haryana High Court directed the CBI to probe corruption allegations linked to his office. Subsequently, the CBI registered a case involving an officer on special duty (OSD) to the Punjab CM and other public servants.
