NEW DELHI: A suspected ‘Special 26’-style fake CBI raid was foiled at a businessman’s residence in Delhi’s Rohini after his wife refused to open the gate for a group of people claiming to be CBI officers.According to a complaint filed with the police, around eight to 10 people arrived at the residence and said they had come to conduct a CBI search. They allegedly tried to enter the house without showing proper authorisation or establishing their identities. The woman refused to let them in despite alleged pressure and threats to open the gate. The group then remained outside the house for around 1.5 hours, according to the complaint.Neighbours gathered at the spot and questioned the group about the search warrant and other authorisation. When asked to provide a copy of the notice, the alleged fake officers reportedly said the document was in their car and left the spot on the pretext of bringing it.The family subsequently called the police helpline 112, following which a police team reached the residence. The complaint states that the suspected fake officers were wearing clothes bearing the CBI insignia and carrying identity cards claiming they were CBI officials.A notice purportedly bearing the name and signature of the CBI Director was later sent to the complainant’s father on WhatsApp.Although the message was subsequently deleted, the family had taken a screenshot and submitted it to police along with the complaint. The family has alleged that the notice was fabricated and was intended to make the group’s purported action appear to be an official CBI operation. The incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed near the residence. Police are examining the footage and investigating the matter. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Delhi | Silver Rate in Delhi | Bank Holidays in Delhi | Public Holidays in Delhi | Delhi AQI | Weather in Delhi | Petrol Price in Delhi | Diesel Price in Delhi | CNG Price in Delhi | LPG Price in DelhiStay updated with the latest Delhi news.
