CBDT extends tax audit report deadline till Oct 21, ITR last date to Nov 21
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the deadlines for filing income-tax returns and tax audit reports for the 2026-27 assessment year. The new deadline for tax audit reports is October 21, while the deadline for income-tax returns is now November 21.

NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on Monday extended the due date for filing income-tax returns for Assessment Year 2026-27 by certain taxpayers subject to audit under the Income-tax Act, 1961.The deadline for filing the Return of Income has been extended from October 31 to November 21 the CBDT said in a press release."The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has decided to extend the due date of furnishing of Return of Income for Assessment Year 2026-27 in the case of persons mentioned at S. No. 2 in the Table below Explanation 2 to sub-section (1) of section 139 of the Income-tax Act, 1961 from 31st October, 2026 to 21st November, 2026.
