Cauvery Committee, Authority to meet on Tuesday to review water situation
The Cauvery Water Management Authority and the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee are meeting to address the shortfall in water distribution to Tamil Nadu. Current data shows the state has received significantly less water than mandated for the season.

With Tamil Nadu realising a little over 4.5 thousand million cubic feet (tmc ft.) as mandated by the the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) and the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC) this month, the two bodies are holding their meetings on Tuesday to take stock of the situation.
As on August 6, for which the data released by the Central Water Commission (CWC) are available, the lower riparian State realised about 4.6 tmc ft in the current month. Cumulatively (since June 1), the total amount of quantum received was around 8.3 tmc ft. In a normal year, the State should have got around 49 tmc ft. till now.
