Caste survey report figures in discussion on Devaraja Urs
Karnataka legislators discussed the state's socio-economic caste survey report while paying tribute to former Chief Minister Devaraja Urs. Opposition members are pressuring the government to officially implement the findings of the survey.

During a rare period of smooth conduct of business in the Upper House since Monday, members cutting across party lines offered rich tributes to former Chief Minister late D. Devaraja Urs, during which time reference to the socio-economic survey (Caste Census) report submitted to the Karnataka State Commission for Backwards Classes was also made.
Urban Development Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah recalled the effort of former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah towards the welfare of backward classes, including the commissioning of a survey by the H. Kantharaj Commission, which was set aside, and later, Madhusudhan Naik Commission’s report was accepted a day before he stepped down.
