In light of the reported delays in issuing caste certificates, the government is looking at possibilities of extending the last dates to apply in the recruitment notifications issued.

Informing the Legislative Council that the State government would simplify the process to secure caste certificates, Minister for Medical Education Sharan Prakash Patil said on Thursday that the possibility of extending dates would be examined. He was responding on behalf of the Revenue Minister to a question posed by Congress member K. Shivakumar. “We will examine the possibility of extending the last dates to apply in response to recruitment notifications issued by various departments.”

Earlier, pointing out the Maharashtra model, where the use of blockchain technology had prevented fake certificates, Council member K. Shivakumar suggested that Karnataka should also implement the model to prevent the submission of fake certificates. He added that getting a caste certificate had become a herculean task.
