Caste bias a 'blot' on Hindu society: RSS leader Hosabale; calls for behavioural change

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale has described caste-based discrimination as a “blot” on Hindu society and said casteism and untouchability cannot be ended by laws alone, but require a change in individual behaviour.

Addressing a gathering of RSS volunteers at Lal Parade Ground here on Sunday (September 20, 2026), he also said India’s rise should benefit humanity rather than aim to dominate other nations, and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has enhanced the country's global stature.

The senior RSS leader called for an end to caste discrimination and untouchability, describing them as a “blot” on Hindu society.

He said casteism and untouchability could not be eliminated merely through laws or sermons, but required a change in individual behaviour.

“There should be no discrimination of any kind among human beings. Birth-based discrimination is not part of Hindu culture,” Mr. Hosabale said.
