Forest Department officials on Tuesday lodged a complaint with the police on the attack on anti-poaching camps in the Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary in Hannur that took place on August 15.
The attacks followed the killing of three suspected poachers who were killed in an alleged exchange of fire with Forest Department personnel in the early hours of August 15 near Hanur.
“Inspector-General of Police (Southern Range) M.B. Boralingaiah has apprised me of the incident, and a formal complaint has been lodged to take action against those involved in this attack,” Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment Ramalinga Reddy told The Hindu . “The villagers attacked two or three anti-poaching camps which have been set up by the Forest Department.”
