Carrot Top hospitalized in Las Vegas; rep says comedian is recovering
Trigger warning: This story discusses suicide and a suicide attempt.Comedian and longtime Las Vegas performer Carrot Top, whose real name is Scott Thompson, has been hospitalized in Las Vegas following what TMZ reported as a suicide attempt. The 61-year-old comedian was reportedly rushed to a local hospital on Friday, September 18, after the incident, resulting in the cancellation of his scheduled Friday night performance at the Luxor.Carrot Top’s representative, Jami Schlicher, confirmed that Thompson is recovering in hospital and receiving care and support.“Mr. Thompson is recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs. His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers and respectfully ask for privacy,” Schlicher told TMZ.No further details about Thompson’s medical condition have been publicly released by his representative.TMZ subsequently reported that police were seen at Thompson’s Las Vegas residence following his hospitalization.
