Carpooling, Buses, Hybrid Work Can Cut G20 Carbon Emissions By 20%: Report

A CEEW study suggests that behavioral changes such as carpooling, increased bus ridership, and hybrid work could reduce G20 passenger transport emissions by up to 20% by 2050. The report highlights that these shifts are particularly effective in high-emitting, car-dependent economies.

A new study by the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) says behavioural changes in passenger transport could cut annual emissions from G20 countries by 15-20 per cent by 2050.In its higher-impact scenario, the three changes together could save about 538 million tonnes of CO2 (MtCO2) every year in 2050.
