Car with 94 kg of banned tobacco products seized; 4 held

The Ilathur police have arrested four persons and seized a car and two bikes for allegedly smuggling banned tobacco products worth ₹1 lakh on Thursday.
Police said special vehicle check at Ilathur was organised on Thursday after Superintendent of Police S. Ashok Kumar received information about the smuggling of banned tobacco products.
When the police intercepted a car proceeding to Tenkasi from neighbouring Keralam, they found banned tobacco products weighing 94 kg in the sedan.
After arresting car driver Sathish of Vallam near Shencottai, the police also nabbed Congress functionary Suresh Ilavarasan of Ilaththur, Muthumari and Muthuraj of Gandhi Colony in Ilaththur.
