A gang of criminals on Saturday morning (September 5, 2026) reportedly robbed a jewellery businessman of ₹1.06 crore along the busy Avinashi Road.

Dhamam Rangasamy (65), who was in Coimbatore for a business deal was confronted by the gang after he had alighted from an omni bus near Lakshmi Mills Junction. He was said to be walking towards another vehicle to proceed to Oppanakara Street for making the jewellery purchase when the gang of four member, who had come in a car, engaged him in a conversation before overpowering him and fleeing the spot with a bag containing cash and gold.
