Canal restoration to be expedited to curb waterlogging in Kochi
Kochi authorities are accelerating canal restoration and drainage cleaning projects under 'Operation Breakthrough' to mitigate urban waterlogging. The plan includes stricter enforcement against illegal waste dumping and single-use plastics.
In a bid to prevent waterlogging in the city, the restoration of various canals will be expedited. Restoration work on the Mullassery Canal will also resume on September 1 and is expected to be completed by March. The decisions were taken at a review meeting of ‘Operation Breakthrough’ chaired by District Collector G. Priyanka.
