Can no longer accept 'wrong policies': Ex-Rajasthan Minister Vishvendra Singh quits Congress

Former Rajasthan Minister Vishvendra Singh has announced his resignation from the Congress party following public disagreements with state leadership. Singh cited a lack of self-respect and dissatisfaction with party policies as his primary reasons for leaving.
Why it matters
This resignation reflects internal factionalism within the Congress party in Rajasthan, which could impact the party's political stability and electoral prospects in the region.
Former Rajasthan Minister Vishvendra Singh on Friday (October 2, 2026) announced that he was leaving the Congress, two days after launching a sharp attack on party State president Govind Singh Dotasra over the recent urban local body elections.
Mr. Singh, a member of the erstwhile Bharatpur royal family, announced his decision in a social media post, saying he was guided by his conscience and was hurt by statements made by some party leaders.
However, there was no immediate confirmation from the Congress on whether Mr. Singh had formally submitted his resignation.
"I have always taken decisions in my life by listening to my revered Giriraj Maharaj and my inner voice," Mr. Singh said.
He said statements made by some "petty and so-called leaders" had angered his supporters and left him hurt.
